Stephen D'Asti

Owner and Artist

I started tattooing in 1994, working at Screaming Needles, Plymouth NH, Rt. 1 Tattooing in Pawtucket, RI, as well as underground closer to home.  Although I enjoy tattooing many different styles, I must say that my personal favorites are wildlife and portraits.  Most of my work is custom which keeps me drawing constantly.  I also paint with acrylic, water colors, sumi and airbrush.

My influences come from everywhere – great tattoo artists such as Guy Aitchison, Tom Renshaw, Filip Leau, Artists Boris Valejo, Brom, Frank Frazetta, Stephen Youll, HrGiger, Julie Bell, Authors Anne Rice, Stephen King and Dean Koontz, Musicians Jim Morrison, Allman Brothers, C.S.N.Y., Hendrix, a beautiful day, a good joke, the way my wife looks at me, etc….you get it!

My thanks are many – It would have taken me a lot longer to get where I am if it weren’t for the love, help and support of some pretty wonderful people.  The first 2 people I would like to thank were there at the beginning – shortly after getting my first tattoo at 21, I realized I was completely in love with the whole thing, every aspect of it….getting tattooed, talking about tattoos, meeting other tattooed people that ‘got it’, and ultimately creating them. – there to guide me where Lenny Denson and Scott Green.  Although Scott is no longer with us,  I know he knows how thankful  I am for his help.  I want to thank Arthur “Coop” Cooper for the collaboration on the business name (among other things).  I would like to thank my wife Tina Marie for all her love and support.  I’d also like to thank my father and mother, Steven and Diane D’Asti – Thanks for helping me make my dream a reality.  Thanks also to Mike Maliff, Mike Nuggent, Tom Adams, George Horne and his son, Steve Baggia, Brian Guidabonie and his brother Eric, Gary Wellington, Jim and Cheryl Bradley, Tom Harbinson, Kris (with a K) Smith, Eddie, and Lisa & Dave Belle.  Without the help of this group of family and friends, MASS-INK would not be the same.
